All the materials used for the creation of our accessories are local, natural and sustainable.

Lutindzi Grass

We use ‘celecloa setifera’, (lutindzi in SiSwati) which is an indigenous grass that grows in abundance in the mountains and the rocky outcrops of Swaziland.  Not being suitable for cattle, the grass has been traditionally used as roofing material for the Swazi traditional beehive huts.  Lutindzi is plentiful in summer and only harvested once a year.

Stoneware clay

We use Stoneware clay, that when fired turns creamy-white.  When mixed with water the clay forms a coherent sticky mass that is moulded into various shapes and intricately hand painted to create our beautiful accessories.

Tishweshwe

We use traditional African fabric for our clothes. This is sold at the Manzini market or at the Baobab boutique in Malkerns. All the fabrics we use are local.

Jacaranda Wood

The jacaranda wood is collected from the bushes around Manzini. It is carved into various shapes for our unique items.
